Benedict XVI met with the College of Cardinals to discuss major issues of the Catholic Church. At the meeting were 150 cardinals from around the world. Also in attendance were the 24 new cardinals appointed on November 20 in St. Peter's Basilica.

Pope releases important document on the Bible Print E-mail

The Pope has released a document on the Bible with more importance than any other since the Second Vatican Council, it's entitled "Verbum Domini," or "the Word of God".  This extensive “apostolic exhortation” reflects the ideas of the Synod on the Word of God held in October of 2008. The document was presented by three major participants in the synod.

Thousands of people thronged the streets of Barcelona to greet the Pope as he traveled to the Sagrada Familia. On his second day in Spain and before consecrating the church of the Sagrada Familia by Antoni Gaudí as a minor basilica, Benedict XVI met briefly with the king and queen of Spain in a private meeting.

The Pope said that he does not understand how a person who has committed his life to God can fall into such perversion. For the first time, the Pope acknowledged that the action of the Church in response to clerical abuse has been neither quick nor vigilant.
