In today's scientific and technological world we are tempted to believe we are in 'control'. There can be a loss of such experiences as awe, a sense of the holy or anything beyond the pragmatic limits of time and space.
To call on God as 'Father' is to discover ourselves as disciples whom God calls 'children'. Central to our faith is how Jesus amazingly taught us to address the very mystery of God in the very intimate terms a young Jewish child addresses his father: Abba.
The great theologian, Hans Urs von Balthasar, saw beauty as a joyful experience that calls us out of ourselves to connect with others, and most importantly, to connect with the mystery of God.
