St. Augustine’s is an oasis for people seeking to belong or searching the truth, those who are feeling lost, alone or confused. All are welcome to partake in healing masses, charismatic masses, the adoration of the blessed sacrament, the Way of the Cross, catechism, cell group meetings, talks, training sessions, as well as fun occasions like feast celebrations, film presentations and social gatherings.
St. Augustine’s, built in the 1860’s, has a long history as one of Melbourne’s oldest churches. Its blue-stone beauty has been the backdrop of many weddings and baptisms. Its garden, a patch of green in the concrete environs of the city, is a popular lunchtime rendezvous for city workers.
St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, located at 631 Bourke Street, is the parish church of the west side of Melbourne and Docklands. Its parish priest is Fr. Wahid Riad.
